I don’t remember exactly how I came across Dave Pollack but he is a killing player that I always look forward to hearing through youtube. I admire his tone and approach to articulation (and his approach to smooth jazz). He reminds me a little of one of my favorite saxophone players, Dick Oatts. When I first attempted to write out a Dick Oatts Solo (All The Things You Are)….I quickly gave up (trying to write it out that is…I did memorize it though). He has a way of weaving in and out of lines while ghosting notes…all the while having a “muscular” articulation and relaxed rhythmic approach. Luckily, I didn’t give up this time! I didn’t include any articulations in this transcription…you’re going to have to listen and figure that out yourself. There is a lot of nuances in his playing so listen carefully and enjoy!!

Side note: I use the amazing slow downer when I transcribe tunes…the goal is to transcribe in real time though!
