Greetings everyone! The main purpose of this post is to state that there is not one straight line to learning how to improvise. If you scour my blog you will notice that I post a lot of “lick” videos. While I do enjoy transcribing licks…I will be the first person to advise you that it shouldn’t be your only method to learn how to improvise. Moreover…you shouldn’t see a chord change and automatically insert a random lick (unless of course you’re going through a process of ingraining them…click here for the video).
